How did you start into community management? What was your career path across the years?

Shortly after starting at Techvisa in the capacity of a Registered Migration Agent, we identified the need for a full-time Community Manager. The role was well-suited for my skill set, combining my background in marketing with my more recent post-graduate qualifications in Immigration Law.

A couple of months after commencing the new role, I met Paz from The Community Collective and proceeded to enrol in their second cohort. The timing couldn't have been better as this helped me solidify and formalise my position while also providing the necessary resources to begin my journey as a Community Manager.

What have been the main challenges of your career?

Transitioning into unrelated industries and having to start from scratch.

What has helped you develop yourself as a community professional?

The 8-week cohort by the Community Collective. Genuinely helped me level up as a community builder.

What's your favourite community platform?
What's one single strategy that you may suggest to increase value for the people in your community?

Stay present.

What is “community” for you?

Community, to me, is a group of individuals brought together by shared values, goals and interests. It's about building meaningful connections and working towards a common purpose.

What would you recommend to those just starting into community management?

Ensure you clearly understand the deliverables of the role and how they align with the business objectives.
